The Community Heartbeat Trust helps communities undertake defibrillator projects taking into account the needs for the right equipment, the right support, the right adherence to liabilities and governance, community awareness and training programmes, and help with the fund raising and long term support for these projects. As the leading community defibrillator charity in the UK, we have become recognised by ambulance services, councils, community groups and sports governing bodies as the 'gold standard', having set many of the standards now being adopted by other organisations. We live, breath and are hugely passionate about community defibrillation in all its forms, and seek always to offer a holistic and objective advice to communities. We believe a defibrillator is for LIFE and not just for Christmas, and these medical devices should be available to save lives. But they are just that, a medical device, and must be treated with respect. A good project is not about just a defibrillator in the community, but one that forms part of a resilient process, addressing needs, and fully backed by Governance. www.communityheartbeat.org.uk

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 25th of September 2016 we suddenly lost my  amazing dad.. Colin Davis to a heart attack at the age of 54. This was a massive shock to everyone and our family was totally devastated to lose such a great family man who put everyone first. He was an amazing husband to my mum (Donna) A brilliant dad to Claire and I also the best grandparent anyone could ask for there kids he was truly an amazing Pops to Owen & Aaron  also a great son to mum and dad           ( John and Ruby ). Now dad is lighting up the sky with his grandson jack. It’s a struggle most days for our family to try and move on with life when you lose someone as important as my dad was to us and we would hate to see anyone have to loose a family member as suddenly as we did , We want to ‘do our bit ‘ by trying to prevent or even save someone’s life  but to do this we need your help !

We would love to raise £5000 to be able to work with the community Heartbeat Trust and get 2 community public access defibrillators ( CPADs) CPADs are cabinets located on the outside wall of a building so that the AED inside can be accessible 24/7 to anyone in the vicinity who requires it. It means more people could benefit from the presence of the device and more lives could be saved.

The cabinets have a key code lock and the code is accessed by calling 999 which means the device re-mains secure.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest happens around 140,000 times a year in the UK, making it one of the UK’s largest killers – equivalent to a jumbo jet crashing every day! The potential for saving a life is dependent upon time, the faster medical help can be attained, the better the chance of survival. Clinical studies suggest you have less than 5 minutes from the event to save the life, this decreasing by up to 23% per minute. In rural areas it takes time to get medical help, so Community Public Access Defibrillators (cPAD) have a very important part to play in helping save lives in rural communities. cPAD schemes are reckoned to be about 10x more effective in saving life post hospital than other community schemes alone.

We as a family are going to do a lot  of charity  events to try and get this amount together  with  great support behind us we know we will do it !

As the saying goes ‘ every little helps ‘ if everyone  can please help us raise this money to ‘prevent someone else’s loved ones have to go through’ this  it would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance for your support
