We’re Mind, the mental health charity, working across England & Wales. We believe no one should face a mental health problem alone. We’re here for you. Whether you’re stressed, depressed or in crisis. We’ll listen, give support & advice, & fight your corner. Thanks for fundraising for national Mind.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Kilimanjaro is the 4th highest mountain in the world at   5895m ( 19,341ft ) approx 4 miles. It is located on the border of Kenya and Tanzania.

I plan to climb it in October 2023 taking the Lemosho Route ( 8 days - 7 nights ) which approaches Kilimanjaro through forest and moorland from the west.

I am climbing it to raise funds for Mind the mental health charity.

Even though 1 in 4 of us will experience some form of health issue in our lives many simply don’t get the help they need.

Mind campaign for mental health  support by making mental health an every day priority offering help where ever it is needed through information advice and local services throughout the UK.

Suicide is the number 1 killer of Men under 45 in the UK and Ireland . I have suffered with my own mental health over many years but have been very lucky to have received support when I needed it most.

Not everyone is so fortunate. I lost my best friend Mike to suicide just before Christmas 2018. On the face of if he was a happy successful 34 year old Dad who had everything to live for. Losing him was an absolute tragedy and a heartbreaking event for all of his family and friends. We need to break the stigma surrounding mental health and make sure everyone is aware, that with the help of charities such as Mind, non judgmental support is available for all.

I would like to dedicate this climb to Mike and the many happy times we had together.

Gone but never forgotten.
