Blind Fleet Racing World Championship 2019 Canada · 30 August 2019
Two years ago I competed with GBR Blind Sailing in the B2 class in Sheboygan USA, winning Gold and helping Team GBR become World Champions.
This time I am the sighted tactician in the B1 class and am looking for your help in order to defend our Fleet Racing World title and send 4 teams out to Canada.
GBR Blind Sailing is a small registered charity with a long history of success becoming multiple Sailing World Champions in both Blind Fleet and Match Racing.
The charity looks to provide visually impaired and blind people with their first taste of sailing and also to providing a pathway to train to represent their country. All this is not possible without our sighted volunteers that train and race beside us. Your support would go towards the following;
Coaching throughout the event, training, flights and accommodation for sighted support and entry fees. Please take a look at our website www.gbrblindsailing.co.uk and read our stories. We look to change lives by giving people FREEDOM ON THE WATER leaving their white stick or guide dog ashore and giving them the chance to sail using feel and communication from their team.
We have had some great success in recent years:
2013 - World Blind Fleet Racing Champions with individual, B1 – Gold, B2 – Gold, B3 – Silver.
2014 - World Blind Match Racing Champions
2015 - World Blind Fleet Racing Champions with individual, B1 – Bronze, B2 – Silver, B3 – Silver.
2016 – World Blind Match Racing Champions
2017 – World Blind Fleet Racing Champions with individual, B1 – Silver, B2 – Gold, B3a - Gold, B3b – Silver.
2018 – World Blind Match Racing Champions
