Story
I’m imagining that you are here on my page because you’ve
heard a bit about me. I may be short, but I’m also very vocal, about something close to my heart. Cancer.
Cancer doesn’t stop when someone dies, it lives on in the
hearts and minds of others. It affects my own life and my own health but this is not a deterrent. I am currently being treated for mantle cell lymphoma and have been told that I will never be rid of the illness. That in itself is a challenge, and one that must be won!
Four years ago, I lost my dear brother John to Prostate Cancer. In the UK alone, over 41000 men are diagnosed with Prostate Cancer every year. It can be treated if caught early enough, John was one of the unlucky ones and did not survive.
I don’t want to ‘saddle’ you all with a sob story, but we need to get the ‘wheels’ in motion and ‘pedal’ fast for this worthwhile charity. You can’t put the brakes on Cancer. So I’m asking for your help now.
I’m quite literally getting on my bike!
No back pedaling, it just has to be done. I know that money is tight for a lot of you good people, but every little helps and any donation can make a difference, no matter how small.
So, 2018 will see me competing in the Grand Depart Classic! This event is taking place in the Vendée region of western France and must be completed in less than 12hrs and will see me whizzing around one of the stages of the Tour De France. A total of 195km or 122miles from start to finish! I hope my wee legs will cope! Apart from the obvious personal reasons for taking part, this event has so far raised over £160,000 to help stop men dying of prostate cancer.
Your donation can make a difference.
