Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

At 9.30 on Saturday night my name was written onto the ceiling of the White Horse Pub, Dover, along with those of my Aspire Shark team mates, Russell Perkins, Kate Fryatt, Adrian Hodgson, Neil Cartwright and Meg Burn. Our time was an unremarkable 13.35hrs, most people when they look around the honours boards that are the walls and ceilings of the pub to Channel Swimmers will glance at our entry and hurry on to look for more famous names and times. But for for me it marks a brilliant day and a series of gutsy swims, by my remarkable friends.

I am raising money for Aspire a charity that helps people with spinal injuries adjust and get back to self sufficiency.
