Story
My mum Barbara, was sadly diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in the autumn of 2022. She came to live with us but quite quickly deteriorated. The district nurse engaged the help of st. Clare hospice at home team, which is exactly as it sounds.
The care they provided was incredible but on Christmas Eve, mum was taken by ambulance to the inpatient unit of St Clare’s, which was daunting for both her and us. We shouldn’t have worried the upbeat welcome we received was incredible as was every detail of her care whilst they looked after my mum. Inevitably, she lost her battle in the early hours of the 14th January 2023. I’m not sure it would be possible to have had a more caring and dignified passing. I had never visited a hospice and for anyone who hasn’t you probably should, it’s not what you expect.
We understand everybody has their chosen charity’s, but we would like to make a worthwhile contribution to st. Clare’s. So, if you feel you could add to our Just Giving total it would be much appreciated by myself and Jane.
