Story
Thanks for visiting our page. We're raising money for the British Heart Foundation and are so grateful for your support!
It was a great shock and sadness to everyone across Social Security Scotland, when Colin Bell passed away suddenly on Tuesday 30 October.
Colin always went the extra mile for people, never passing you by without a smile or asking how you were. I'm still so sad not to see him around the office every day.
He said to me once that he'd love to run a marathon, but when I told him about almost losing a toe during a run last year, (after laughing), he quickly changed his mind.
To celebrate Colin's life, and raise vital funds for the British Heart Foundation, we're running from our Glasgow office to our Dundee Office, 127 miles in total.
Our route will be as follows:
Forth and Clyde Canal
Day 1
Friday 31st May: Glasgow High Street to Kelpies 24 miles.
Day 2
Saturday 1st June: Kelpies - North Queensferry 20.3 miles.
Sunday
2nd June: Rest Day
Fife Coastal Path
Day 3
Monday 3rd June: North Queensferry to Kirkcaldy - 18 miles.
Day 4
Tuesday 4th June Kirkcaldy to Elie - 20 miles.
Day 5:
Wednesday 5th June: Elie to St Andrews - 25 miles.
Day 6:
Thursday 6th June: St Andrews to Dundee House 20 miles.
We would love for you to get involved by inviting you to come along for the final leg of our journey from St Andrews to Dundee. Or, a slightly shorter route from the Tay Bridge back to Dundee House (1.5 miles).
Regardless of the distance you run, we would be delighted to have you there on this final day to celebrate Colin's life and raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
If you would like to participate on this final day please get in touch with us and we'll let you know the starting details: chris.ashe:@gov.scot
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps.
Thanks so much,
Team Social Security Scotland.
