In 2014 one of my daughters "entered" me for a triathlon so that I would visit her in France.  I then had to buy a bike and take up cycling and swimming - because you cannot say no to your kids; can you?

During the cycle training I found that I needed to urinate more; especially at night and went to see my Doctor.  He took my blood to "put my mind at rest".  Subsequently the Prostate Cancer indicators came back very high and I was forwarded to the Urology Department at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth.

There I noted how many people are affected by prostate cancer, my "relatively" young age - I was 52 at the time and the Chestnut Appeal. At the same time I was aware of another lad in the company who had been diagnosed with the cancer and was commencing treatment.

Having been advised to stop the cycling my readings dropped to a low level over 6 months and further appointments.  The "potential" effects of the cancer hit me when I told Neil that I was clear and he shook my hand congratulating me.  I believe that an eye did leak.

Neil is successfully continuing his treatment.  So I am doing this for Neil, to bring Prostate Cancer to more people's attention and to get more men to get themselves checked.
