London Marathon 2019 · 28 April 2019 ·

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

On Sunday 28th April 2019 I will be running the 26.2 mile long Virgin Money London Marathon in aid of Parkinson's UK. Many millions of people are living with Parkinson’s disease — a chronic degenerative neurological disorder. It develops gradually and you might already know people who are affected, but symptoms cannot be seen. However, as it progresses it starts to affect activities of daily living; there is no known cure for Parkinson’s disease!

In 2017, my big brother Duncan was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. An illness that until now had affected only other people, suddenly took hold of somebody so close to me. An illness that until now was just a name that I had heard mentioned in the media has now become tangible and real.

My family and I are here for my brother, but now I have decided to do something more. By running this year's London Marathon I can help to raise awareness and funds for further research into finding ways of managing the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease better and ultimately finding the cure.

Please help me to raise as much money as possible for Parkinson’s UK. Please donate to this great cause!

Thanks, Colin
