Story
When my 17 year old niece Kayla was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkins lymphoma earlier this year, no words will ever describe the sheer weight of the realisation smacking me in the face.
Kayla lives on the Isle of Skye whereas I now live on the South Coast of England. The 700 mile gap isn't ideal but her positivity, humour and mature approach to everything makes me so proud and no distance will ever get in the way of how much I support her.
Every two weeks Kayla has to make the 400 mile round-trip from Skye to The Beatson Cancer Centre in Glasgow to undergo her chemotherapy programme. The Beatson has been an amazing support to her and my family and to many other families across the West of Scotland.
I look forward to running the Santa dash on the 10th December for The Beaton Charity alongside Kayla, my brother John, my sister-in-law Kat and my youngest niece Leah.
