SDCAS aims to relieve poverty and distress among asylum seekers and refugees in the London Borough of Southwark. Since the start of the pandemic, SDCAS has been providing urgent services including a weekly food bank, deliveries, and a remote advice service. Thank you for supporting our vital work.

Story

The Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers are the perfect charity to be raising money for right now with the growing number of Asylum seekers needing vital support.

The Centre supports asylum seekers through the complex immigration system, helping people to secure the basics: food, clothing, shelter and healthcare:

  • They teach English and CV writing, as well as other important skills.
  • Their advice and advocacy service helps our clients with issues relating to health, housing, employment and immigration issues.
  • They support children and families with advice about parenting and access to creches and school education.
  • Their centres provide hot lunches and a safe space where clients can socialise.
  • Their specialist staff support their clients' mental health needs and run drop-in group therapy sessions for men and women.
  • Have social events in their day centres and organise social and cultural outings for their clients to places of interest in the local area

I'm running two Marathons in the space of a week - Berlin on Sunday 26th September and London on Sunday 3rd October. It would be great if you could support me in raising money for this great cause.
