On Saturday 28th January I am taking part in the Ultra Challenge 21km Winter Walk in London to raise awareness and funds for a charity called Small Steps.
Small Steps helps children like our daughter Maeve (pictured outside the school, age 2) with physical disabilities, aged from birth to 5 years, work on all areas of their development, using the principles of conductive education.
These children have cerebral palsy, other forms of motor impairment, syndromes or sensory impairment. They need a great deal of extra stimulation and assistance to help them reach even the most basic milestones. At Small Steps, a teacher, conductor and physiotherapist lead both parent and child through a structured programme designed to help each child achieve individualised developmental steps. The work of Small Steps is a lifeline to families like ours and I would be extremely grateful for your support for this very worthy cause.
Like so many registered charities across the country, due to the Covid-19 pandemic raising funds has proved more challenging than ever this past couple of years. Small Steps is a free service and receives no statutory funding, so is solely dependent on charitable grants, fundraising and donations. No matter what the amount, every little bit donated will make a big difference. Please dig deep and help Small Steps continue their amazing work enhancing the lives of disabled children and their families.
The 13 mile loop starts & finishes at The Oval Cricket Ground in Vauxhall. The route heads East, south of the River Thames past Westminster, the London Eye & many iconic sights of the city, before a half way stop at Rotherhithe. Then looping north of the river, back towards The Oval.
