Colne Valley - Apollo's Fund

Apollo's Fund · 26 March 2021
Meet Apollo! This lovely boy had been seen wandering about for the past few years and was recently reported to us as he had a large wound on his neck. Nobody seemed to know who owned him, and he wasn't neutered or microchipped. All searches for his owner failed.
As you can see from the photos he was a bit of a mess. This was caused by a large abcess that had burst and had gone untreated for a long time.
We don't usually make a habit of just taking cats off the streets, however this was an emergency. Poor Apollo was in surgery for 2 hours and because there wasn't enough skin to close the wound the Vet took a skin graft to repair him. All was going well until the fosterer noticed his neck was starting to swell and fill with puss again. Unfortunately, it was a Sunday so he was taken to an emergency vets where they checked him over and drained the puss. Back to our Vets on the Monday where he has had a 'staycation' for 3 weeks (so far) so they can administer what is needed to stop the skin graft dying off. Apollo Vets, Black Notley (who he is named after) are doing an amazing job with him, and unfortunately had to have some of the skin graft that didn't take, removed, but all good news as it is now healing underneath.
Apollo still has a long road ahead of him and will need ongoing treatment until he heals.
Can you spare a few pounds to help pay for Apollo's care? If you are able to make a donation to help towards his ongoing treatment, we would be most grateful. Colne Valley is a small branch of Cats Protection run entirely by volunteers and we rely greatly on generous donations from our supporters and we truly do appreciate all the help we can get.
Thank you for your continued support from all at Colne Valley Cats Protection.
All funds raised above and beyond those needed to help Apollo will be used to help other cats in the branches care.
