#MY19 - Martin's Mountain · 1 August 2021 to 31 December 2022 ·

The official fundraising page of Martin's Mountain!

Story

Susannah Sutton, Martin Jubb, Mike Twigg, Mary Speirs, Rachel Ainsworth, John Pelan, Andy Sutcliffe, Hannah Gagen & Edward Sutton are raising money for the SIA because:

On 22nd May 2017, Martin Hibbert's life changed forever. Martin was the closest survivor of the Manchester Arena bombing which tragically took the lives of 22 people. A bolt went straight through him, severing his spinal cord, leaving him paralysed below the waist.Martin is taking on the incredible challenge of raising £1million for Spinal Injuries Association, the organisation that have supported him in his recovery and gave him the hope, confidence and practical skills to start again.Martin, supported by a team of people that have helped to save and rebuild his life, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in June 2022. Mt. Kilimanjaro is 19,308ft tall, this is what inspired the concept of #MY19. Martin's 19 will be Kilimanjaro, inspired by his story and this incredible challenge, we have decided to set our own #MY19 challenge of raising money to help him towards his incredible goal.

Martin's Mountain is Coloplast UK's Charity of the Year, and has also supported the climb. Now it's our turn to contribute in our own way. We heard that colleagues from across Coloplast Europe would be riding from Denmark To Poland for their annual staff ride, so we thought we would use this as a good excuse to rope in some UK colleagues and raise funds for Martin's Mountain. We also added on a few more K to make it to include another 19!

This isn't Mt Kili for us, but it will be a challenge... some of us only just got bikes! Yet it will be nothing compared to the challenges someone has rebuilding their life after a spinal injury. Please give what you can.

In two days and across four countries #OUR19 will be:

  • on the 19th (& 20th) August
  • 319K
  • to raise £1019
  • riding up to 19 hours over two days
  • with maybe 19 bike saddle sores between us :)
