Story
Each Compco Fire office will be holding a charity walk up and down the country in memory of our Managing Director John Sinclair to raise money for Guts UK, a charity chosen by John’s family.
John fought a courageous 3 year battle against cancer of the oesophagus from 2017 to December 2020. He sadly passed away on 21st December aged 54 years.
The walk for our Swansea office will be the first walk and will be held on Friday 18th June after work. The 5.65 mile circular walk will take the team to Worms Head via a sea dip at Fall Bay beach and taking in the beautiful views across Rhosili Bay.
For Compco's Head Office in Worcester, the walk will be held on Saturday the 19th June 2021 and will follow the Worcester/Birmingham canal from Droitwich to Worcester which is approximately 10 miles.
For the Hemel Hempstead office, the walk will take place on Saturday 26th June along the river between Sonning and Henley (and back again for those feeling brave!). This will be approximately 9 miles one way or 18 mile for the return trip.
Dates and locations of the walks for Compco's other offices are yet to be decided.
Clearly these events may be impacted by the rules currently in place on social distancing and the Worcester walk will therefore be restricted to 30 participants.
"We're getting to grips with guts!" 25ft is a lot of gut to understand! The truth is, our guts have been underfunded, understaffed and undervalued for decades. People are suffering, people are dying. All because of a lack of knowledge about our guts. With new knowledge, we will end the pain and suffering for the millions affected by digestive diseases. Guts UK’s research leads to earlier diagnoses, kinder treatments and ultimately, a cure.
