Story
This summer,9, I’m riding the Great Divide Mountain Bike route. This runs 2800 miles from Banff in Canada to Antelope Wells on the US/Mexican border. It follows the continental divide, which in practice means the Rocky Mountains - so about 70,000 metres of vertical ascent. It’s 80% unpaved, and entirely unsupported - no vans, no friendly mechanics - everything is carried on the bike. The route passes through a few towns but most nights will be in a tent. I’m hoping to finish in around 45 days.
Crosslight Advice is a debt and money advice charity I’ve worked for as a volunteer for around four years, and I’m also a trustee of one of its constituent branches. Crosslight provides comprehensive debt and benefit advice to people in severe financial difficulties. Our end-to-end support includes in-depth casework, acting as advocates for our clients to ensure their voices are heard. A key part of our mission is to create lasting change in our clients’ lives, so that they can face the future with more confidence and become better equipped to meet their full potential.
