Hackney Half Marathon 2023 · 21 May 2023 ·

As a charity that needs to raise £19,000 a day to keep going we are reliant on the kindness and bravery of supporters. Our amazing runners are taking on the Hackney Half Marathon to do just this.

Story

Hello, I have got two big main goals I want to share with you: running the Hackney Half to take part in the event that was a source of motivation when I was going through difficult time and reaching the £300 fundraising target for St Joseph's Hospice in Hackney, which I decided to support as a way to thank the people who every day  provide xpert care to people diagnosed with terminal ills so that they can die with dignity.

I had my first direct experience with hospices in Italy last year, when one of my family members got diagnosed with oral cancer. Only then I got to know how they work with patients and their families to make the most of the time they have, in the most compassionate way.

Their care is provided free of charge to anyone in the local community who needs it.

They currently receive around 50% of their funding from NHS. They rely on the generosity and goodwill of the local community to fund the remaining £7million of the running cost.

I hope to reach my goals with a little bit of your help.

Sending you love.

In memory of my uncle who died of oral cancer at one of the hospice centers in Italy.
