Story
Hi, thanks for taking the time to view our Justgiving page.
Our names are Helen & Josh Potts, Karen & Mark Swann, Hollie Swann, Taylor & Taryn Maher.
We are a small group of parents and students from Hatfeild Primary School and have known Connor for several years.
Connor is 8 years old and has cerebral palsy and spastic diplegia. This means he cannot walk unaided because his muscles are too tight. He has poor balance and is unable to keep his feet flat on the ground.
Connor's dream is to be able to walk, run and play football with his friends - something that most 8 year old boys take for granted.
To help make this dream come true Connor needs to raise £60,000 to enable him to travel to America, where Dr TS Park at St Louis Children's Hospital has pioneered an operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR). This operation has an amazing success rate and the hospital reports 100% of patients having permanently reduced spasticity.
In an attempt to contribute to the amount Connor needs for his operation we have decided to take on a challenge way out of our comfort zone. With little more experience than 7 hour shopping marathons in Westfields we have decided to take on the mammoth challenge of walking, hiking and scambling our way up 3,560 feet to the top of Mount Snowdon in Wales (where there isn't a shoe shop or designer outlet in sight)
So without further a do, please dig deep as every penny counts and you too can be be part of making a little boy's dream come true!
Thank You
The Hatfeild Hikers
