Birmingham University takes on Kilimanjaro 2024!
Campaign by Meningitis Research Foundation (RCN England 1091105,SC037586, Ireland CHY 12030)
Welcome to the Birmingham climbs Kilimanjaro campaign! These incredible students are taking on the challenge of a lifetime all whilst helping in the fight against meningitis and septicaemia.

Story

Hi everyone! In September 2024 I will be taking on Mount Kilimanjaro as part of a team from the University of Birmingham in support of the Meningitis Research Foundation.

Kilimanjaro in Tanzania 🇹🇿 is the tallest mountain in Africa, and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Over 6 days, we will walk ~70 km to reach the summit 5,895 m above sea level.

The money I raise will be going towards the work of the Meningitis Research Foundation, an amazing charity that are fighting to rid the world of meningitis and septicaemia. As part of their mission, the MRF have launched the first global Taskforce aiming to eradicate meningitis by 2030.

The work that the MRF does is extremely important; meningitis and septicaemia are both deadly diseases that young people and children are particularly vulnerable to. Meningitis alone is responsible for more deaths of children under 5 than malaria, measles, tetanus and AIDS combined.

You can donate here; anything you can donate will be hugely appreciated. Keep an eye out for organised fundraising events throughout the year too on my instagram and Facebook! Please share if you can!

Thanks,

Conor :)
