Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 2009 my grandfather was diagnosed with terminal cancer. 'Grancha' was the friendliest, most humble gentleman I've ever come across, and always looked at the positives in every situation, no matter how bad. It was this attitude that kept him smiling even in his final days, always doing his best to comfort the wife, daughters and grandchildren that he had idolised for all of his life. He was anyone's perception of a perfect grandfather. After being diagnosed with terminal sigmoid colon cancer, Grancha became weaker and weaker until he was moved to the Y Bwythyn Newydd Macmillan Specialist Palliative Care Unit located on the Bridgend Princess of Wales Hospital Campus. My family and I can’t thank and compliment the nurses in Y Bwythyn enough for the delicate care they took of my Grancha right up until his final days. They made sure he was comfortable with everything around him, and if there was ever a problem with my Grancha or any of us family members, the wonderful nurses did their utmost to solve it. I believe these nurses do not get enough credit for the work they do in creating a pleasant atmosphere and environment for those suffering from terminal illnesses to be in during their final days.

Since then I have accumulated over 100,000 followers on the social networking website, Twitter. After seeing the continued hard work of all nurses who work with those with terminal cancer, it inspired me to give something back. With my high Twitter following I can see the potential to make a valuable contribution to society. I understand that many of you will come here and read my story, offer your thoughts as sympathy and not donate, and I’m fine with that. I’m grateful for your empathy. I understand that for most people nowadays, money is tight, and many people cannot afford to donate to charity. I also understand that I could be being completely naive in thinking that people I have never met before and know only through the internet will donate money to a charity through my website, but if I never try I guess I’ll never find out. For those who are able to spare some money, any kind of donation is greatly appreciated, no matter how big or small.

Thanks in advance, guys!

EDIT: £79 in an hour. Can't thank you enough. Speechless.
