Story

Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber is very proud to be supporting this fantastic charity this year. Hospices provide care, dignity and compassion in some of the most difficult moments of our lives. Our Donna Lee shares her very personal experience with this fantastic charity;

"My brother-in-law bravely battled Cancer for over 10 years.  Years of operations, chemotherapy and endless hospital visits really took its toll on my sister, niece and nephew.  These years were terribly hard for my family seeing such a kind, generous and lovely man suffering this way.  Last year he was given the devastating news that his Cancer had returned with a vengeance and it was now terminal.  My brother-in-law was lucky enough to be transferred to the Sue Ryder Wheatfields hospice.  The care he received there was second to none.  He had his own very private and comfortable room providing a peaceful haven for family to visit him.  The Staff were wonderful, and my sister speaks very highly of the way they cared for her husband in his final days. When I visited my brother-in-law, it was comforting to see him in his lovely room and there was no limit on how often we could visit. Sadly, he lost his battle with this horrible disease last October. I was so keen to support the Sue Ryder Wheatfields hospice at our awards this year as the work they do is incredible, and I really wanted to help raise funds and awareness in memory of my brother-in-law."

It is very concerning to think about all the fund-raising activities that have been cancelled and how many charities have suffered.  It is now even more important to keep those funds coming in which is why we are launching an online campaign to raise the same, if not more, funds that we would normally do at our physical ceremony. We know there is a lot of economic uncertainty out there at the moment but please do give what you can afford.

CEYH has always actively supported a charity every year and we are frequently blown away by our industry's generosity. Thank you in advance for your contribution.
