Story

Graeme Watt (Softcat CEO), his son Jasper (Edinburgh University), Doug Fawell (Softcat CIO), Andrew Knott ( Hampden Group Exec Director) and Nick Bailey (Tech Data AM for Softcat) have teamed up to raise money for mnda(motor neurone
disease association) which we think is incredibly meaningful in light of our
great friend Paul Cook’s illness.

Paul was struck down by this dreadful illness last year, and continues to fight it head on. Despite the challenges of his condition, he remains cheerful and great company, but has significant issues brought on by mnd that will only get worse.
Anyone that knows Paul will testify what a fantastic and generous man he is, and has given much to so many others for many years through money, time and caring. All of us that know him want to support him as much as we can, and we hope you will be able to help us achieve our goal.

All monies raised will go to a pioneering project fully supported by mnda

It is being led by prof Giambattista Bonanno at The University of Geneva, and Prof Dame Pam Shaw at the University of Sheffield. The project aims to continue the work with mesenchymal stem cells ( MSC's). These cells are shown to alleviate symptoms and improve survival rates in mice, and it is hoped these positive results can be transferred to humans - because this treatment looks to reduce Glial and astrocytes cell activation, not only is significantly cheaper, it removes the ethical and safety concerns of using actual stem cells in treatments

Thanks very much in advance for supporting us to help Paul in this project and his fight against mnd

Graeme, Jasper, Doug, Andrew  and Nick
