This summer, 9 brave (and petrified) Copello Team members will be flying 2 - 3 miles high above the ground, and jumping out of a plane at around 10,000 ft resulting in a 30 second ground rushing freefall experience back to the Salisbury Plains with speeds reaching 125mph. GULP!

Most of the team are scared of flying alone, so this challenge will take people completely out of their comfort zones.

As a team we wanted to do something that would push us to our limits, to really challenge ourselves and ultimately to fundraise as much as possible for a charity that means so much to us, and the lives of many individuals and families in our local community. 

About Scratch Charity

We were shocked to find out that 34.7% of children in Southampton currently live in poverty, which is around 16,000. This number is increasing, yet is very rarely talked about. 

During one of Copello's volunteering days we learnt about an 8-year old who was so pleased with his newly donated bed, as up until that point, he had slept on the floor using his clothes as a pillow. It is incredibly sad that in such a rich society we still have families living in such poor conditions. 

SCRATCH was set up locally to relieve the poverty issue and to provide a care package for families that have very little. The DORCAS project includes a sofa, kettle, toaster, beds, and curtains; a starter kit essentially which costs £170. Unlike bigger charities who have millions in reserve, Scratch always have a budget deficit.
