FELLSMAN 2020 · 25 April 2020
Cops 'n' Plodders has been started by a group of serving police officers in support of mental health and in particular CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).
We all come from different backgrounds and departments but have all had the experiences of dealing with vulnerable mentally ill individuals.
Sadly this sometimes results in the greatest loss possible for a parent, family member or friend through the person taking their own life.
This is unfortunately a common occurrence and we have all been affected through such incidents of dealing with missing people or through the loss of close friends or colleagues.
As a group we realise and hope to help other realise that the pressures created by our society to earn as much money as possible, to have the big house or the nicest car are not important. We aim to promote the benefit of people talking about their problem and in doing so help them realise and appreciate the things that they have achieved rather than what they haven't or what they are unable to achieve.
We regularly set ourselves different challenges and we have committed to entering the Lakes in a Day Ultra Marathon in October 2022. This is 50 miles and over 4000m of ascent across the beautiful and unforgiving backdrop of the Cumbrian Lake District.
We aim to raise money in support of CALM and hope you will support us with your donations - please remember to gift aid any donation if you can as it makes a real difference to the donation.
