Cordwainer-Guildhall Outreach Programme · 6 September 2012

In 2024-25 our members will be raising funds for Walking With The Wounded. We also support footwear education and industry, and a number of charitable organisations including the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and the Royal Free Hospital.

Story

The sound of the Cordwainers' Music Appeal is ringing across the City of London and beyond.

The Worshipful Company of Cordwainers are sponsoring The Cords, an ensemble of students from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, who will play in and around London to arouse musical appreciation in the wider community.

Our aim is to raise £60,000 to support them as they engage in musical outreach projects throughout the community, notably with the Urswick School, Hackney, the Royal Free Hospital and the Royal London Society for the Blind

This scheme has two important results: it enables the students to gain valuable playing experience, and allows them to learn about leading musical events. It also brings music to those who would not normally get the chance to experience live concerts. The Guildhall students lead projects in schools that encourage teamwork and provide life-enhancing musical opportunities for young people. They also visit hospitals and use their musical skills to enrich and improve patients’ lives.

Music can touch us all. Help the Cords to share their exceptional talent with a wider audience.
