Story
Thank you visiting our page.
Alan and Graham are taking part in the Season Finale Triathlon at Dorney Lake in order to raise funds for an Eye Gaze device for Portesbery school.
This eye gaze is life-changing device for many of the students with complex physical and communication difficulties as it allows them to communicate their wants, needs, feelings and emotions and, most importantly, can help them show the world how able they are.
This device will used as trial for students, and if they show they are skilled at using it, then they are able to put forward for an assessment to receive funding for their own personal one. Trial devices are not funded in school, but students need plenty of practice in order to succeed in the assessment
Portesbery School is an incredible specialist SEN school that caters for children and young adults with Severe Learning Difficulties. They are extremely passionate in building skills for communication - promoting independence and developing essential life skills.
I have seen first hand how the school make a difference as my own daughter, Lily, attends Portesbery School. The support we have received and the progress she has made in the first year is wonderful. The dedication of staff to provide the best for each individual child needs is second to none. Having heard me speak about Portesbery and Lily's progress, Alan took the time to visit the school and see all the amazing things they do, meet the students and talk with the staff. He is now just as passionate as we are and is actively volunteering within the school.
Can you help us? Any contribution would be gratefully received.
Our target of £6000 would provide a grid Pad 12 (£3995) and Lumin-I eye gaze camera (£1995).
Thank you.
