Cornwall Walk With You

Cornwall Walk With You · 9 August 2020
Times are tough for everyone right now. For anyone already facing problems with drugs, alcohol or mental health it can be even harder.
Over lockdown, 1 in 5 people struggled with their mental health, and the sale of alcohol increased by over 40% in the month of June alone.
That's why staff and volunteers across We Are With You are rallying together to virtually cover the 2,000 mile distance between all of our services across England and Scotland, to show people #WeAreWithYou and raise funds so we can help even more people.
In Cornwall, we'll be walking 5.2 miles as a team on the 9th September in Tehidy woods and along the Portreath coastal path, as part of our pledge for #WalkWithYou.
We're all also individually pledging to add miles throughout the month of September by walking, cycling and running, and we'll keep you updated on how far we make it!
We Are With You in Cornwall offers support to people with issues relating to substance misuse. We provide this support through a variety of ways including one-to-one talking based support, groups and day programmes where people can support each other by sharing their experiences. We also provide therapeutic activities, such as art groups and and gardening days.
We have a large volunteer network, that includes people from the local community and people with lived experience who want to share what they've been through to help others. Many of our staff also have lived experience; this helps them to relate to people and can be a source of inspiration as they can see that a way forward is possible.
The volunteers help in a variety of ways including mentoring, counselling, running groups, supporting community cafes and even driving people to important appointments where needed.
50% of your donation will be directed towards our national programmes, ensuring we can continue to innovate and find new ways of supporting people. The remaining 50% of your donation will be directed locally in Cornwall, to support people in our own community who are facing problems with drugs, alcohol or their mental health.
