Within our roles at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) we are constantly looking at ways we can improve our patient’s experience. We are raising money to help fund the Health Tree Foundation Dementia Friendly Wards appeal by jumping from a plane at 15,000ft… (Are we sane?)

Hospital can be an unfamiliar place for most patients who are admitted but the hospital environment presents many challenges for patients with Dementia. They are more likely to find the environment frightening and confusing which increases their agitation and induces stress related behaviours.

RITA (Reminiscence Interactive Therapy Activities) is an all-in-one touch Screen solution which offers digital reminiscence therapy. It encompasses the use of user-friendly interactive screens & tablets to blend entertainment with therapy and to assist patients in recalling and sharing events from their past through listening to music, watching news reports of significant historical events, listening to war-time speeches, playing games, karaoke and watching films. RITA helps to reduce length of patient’s stay in hospital, dramatically increases a patient’s experience, improves interaction between carers & patient, relatives & patient and reduces hospital admissions.

Each RITA costs approx. £7000. Our aim is to raise as much money as possible to reach the long term goal of having a RITA on every ward at NLAG. It would benefit our patients and improve their hospital journey making it much more comfortable, calm and relaxed!

Our aim is to raise £500 by 16th July 2021 and the remaining £500 before our jump, 17th October 2021!
