We did it! On 11th November we rode our bikes straight into the Caribbean Sea! Thank you so much for all your generous donations - you can follow our exploits on our blog - link below :) Back in the UK on 18th after a few days if rest and relaxation!
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We are leaving on 3rd November and to follow our progress go to: www.costaricacycle.blogspot.com.
As part of our year of celebrating not only our 25th Wedding Anniversary but also both our 50th birthdays we are taking part in a 500km charity cycle ride from the Pacific to the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica in November. We set off from Playa del Coco on the Pacific Coast, cycling across traditional farmlands, bustling colonial cities, stunning mountain ranges, smouldering volcanoes and tropical Caribbean lowlands, or so we're told! (Not so sure I like the idea of the mountain ranges and volcanoes...) We end our ride in Boca del Pantano on the Caribbean coast 9 days later, hopefully not too saddle sore and weary! For more details on our trip go to this page: http://www.globaladventurechallenges.com/international/coast-to-coast-cycle/
To prepare for the trip we'll be clocking up some miles around the New Forest during the year and taking part in a number of events. Paul, as always, will be doing the Blenheim Triathlon in June and a new one this year at Bucklers Hard in August. Together we are doing the 100 mile Bournemouth Sportive in May, gulp, as well as the 70 mile Wight ride again in July and Paul is sneaking in the 'Jurassic Beast' ride in May as well! Please follow our progress on this page!
We are raising money for Pegasus Theatre in Oxford. They are also celebrating their 50th Birthday this year and we are delighted to be able to support them. If you don't know Pegasus, it was created in 1962 by the County Youth Service to get young people from East Oxford off the street and engaged in positive activities after school.
50 years on, Pegasus gives over 3,000 young people a year, aged from 6 to 19, the opportunity to take part in dance and drama, write plays and create music for the stage, as well as be creative and work as a team. Those who would rather work behind the scenes can design and make props and costumes, build sets and manage lighting and sound. There are no auditions - everyone is welcome at Pegasus.
They are a registered charity. Annual grants from Arts Council England, Oxford City and Oxfordshire County Councils cover one third of their costs. Fees and ticket sales cover another third but the rest needs to be raised through fundraising.
