Thank you for visiting our team's Champions of the Flyway fundraising page.
Champions of the Flyway is a major new international bird race that is being staged in Eilat, Israel – home of one of the world’s most desirable birding destinations and famous migration spectacles.
The American Dippers is one of several international bird racing teams attempting to find, identify and log as many species as possible as they go head to head with other crack teams in an intense 24 hour contest to win the coveted title 'Champions of the Flyway'.
While the racing will be light-hearted, our goal is serious - to raise conservation funding that will help the BirdLife International Partnership tackle the illegal killing of birds in Cyprus.
Our team members are: Michael O'Brien, Doug Gochfeld, Glen Davis and Jeff Bouton.
The Cape May Bird Observatory American Dippers are four avid birders with roots in Cape May, one of America’s finest migration hotspots. Our passion for migration is matched by an unwavering commitment to conservation.
What might seem unthinkable in the States is a very real problem in Europe. On the island of Cyprus, a critical stopover site for migratory birds through the Mediterranean, an estimated two and a half million birds are illegally and unsustainably harvested for food annually. Your support will aid BirdLife Cyprus in their battle to diminish this appalling harvest.
Please consider a donation to help the CMBO American Dippers raise conservation funds to protect migrants passing through Cyprus.
If you'd like to stay in touch with all the action please remember to add your email when you donate so BirdLife International can keep you updated on the race and the all-important conservation action we'll all be delivering with your help.
