“Couch to 105k”

To raise money for Woodhead Mountain Rescue, I’m trying to go from Couch to 105k in 1 month.  For some people out there, that would be no sweat. I’m not one of those people.  For those of you who don’t know me, please rest assured, I’m no athlete.  I’ve never knowingly run a 5k in my life - even when chased.

But let’s be clear - I’m not trying to run 105k in one go.  That would kill me.  But I am prepared to give it a go over 1 month.  If I can cover 3.5k every day in June, then I’ll manage it.  That’s my goal – do 3.5k every day, come rain or shine.

I’m planning on taking my 1 year old son out in his pushchair most days as part of this.  It’s a good way to give him a bit of fresh air. As his push chair isn’t petrol-driven, this will make my life a little tougher – but it should give the rest of our household a little peace.

I’m also prepared to run in some sort of fancy dress once or twice a week.  If that persuades you to make a slightly more generous donation, then please feel free suggest an item or outfit in the comments when you make your donation.  I’ll pick out some of the best ideas and, assuming I can lay my hands on the items (and they’re not too humiliating), I promise to give some of them a go.

Thanks for your support!

PS - We hit our initial target of £200 on day 4 and our secondary targets (£400 & £600 & £800) on days 7, 15 and 25 so we've set our sights higher (£800) now!

About Woodhead Mountain Rescue:
Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team is a local charity that provides an essential search and rescue service in the Peak District. They have to continually raise the money that they need to be able to keep the team operational, which amounts to over £35,000 every year. With the exception of a few ad-hoc grants for specific training or equipment, they receive no government funding for this essential service. The team is made up entirely of volunteers.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
