Courtneys ultra 50km run June 25th

Coco’s ultra 50km run · 24 December 2020
My story
Hey guys I’m Courtney and I’m really excited to take on the challenge of running 50 kilometres on Christmas Eve to
raise money for the NHS , Hillingdon Hospital .
I was born in Hillingdon hospital on 17 th December , 22 years ago . I was very ill and the hospital saved my life.
I was a NAS baby , born dependent on various class A drugs , heroin, crack cocaine and alcohol and had to go through withdrawal .
At times I was close to death . My life was saved by the brilliant nurses and doctors at Hillingdon .
My childhood and teenage years were very tough . Throughout school I had such a big personality , it got me into a lot of trouble meaning i ended up getting kicked out of schools and this lowered any chance of me increasing my level in academics .
I found it hard to concentrate or learn and thought that being the class clown was better than not existing at all . So I was always making people laugh ! I didn’t get many exams in the end even after being put back years in school , re doing GCSE’s it just didn’t work I could never put pen to paper it just didn't work for me. I then worked from a young age which meant me earning money and thats a big focus for me.
Later on in life I was in and out of trouble with the police were it got to quite a bad stage and I knew at this point I needed to snap out of this or I was really going to just end up like my Mum and all I’d be doing is repeating history.
Finally I decided that my life had to amount to something so I worked really hard , got my act together and qualified as a personal trainer . Qualifying here made me just realise you can do anything you put your mind to and have a passion for and completely shocked myself when I passed because it was the first achievement and success I’d ever had in my life ! In Jan 2020 I landed the perfect job and was excited to embark on a fulfilling career . Then Covid struck and the gyms closed so I couldn’t work in the job I loved. .
I was inspired to try to help the NHS so I got a job working in a hospital .
The things I saw and felt during those six months turned me inside out . Many people died and others where born .
Some in the same state as I was 22 years ago .
I watched those babies struggle and I watched the nurses love them and nurture them and save them . And
in that moment I knew that I had to do everything in my power to help our NHS .
So I’m going to start by running 50 Kilometres to raise money for the hospital that saved my Life and is still saving so many other babies .
