We offer expert care, guidance and support to people living with a terminal illness

Story

On the 23rd March Marie Curie will be holding a National Day of Reflection to mark the year anniversary since the first national lockdown and we want to use this day to remember any loved ones that have been lost.

£20 covers an hour of Marie Curie nursing care and for every £20 donated New Covent Garden Flower Market together with florist Shane Connolly will provide a bunch of British grown daffodils to a London based key worker as a thank you for all their amazing efforts since the start of the pandemic.

Shane Connolly who holds a Royal Warrant of Appointment to both HM The Queen and HRH The Prince of Wales has said that ‘Marie Curie Nurses supported my beloved father and mother in the last weeks of each of their lives, in 1999 and 2005. They gave them serenity and dignity and helped make their passing so much more
peaceful and beautiful. I will be eternally grateful.’

Rebecca Barrett of New Covent Garden Market said ‘We are delighted to support Marie Curie’s National Day of Reflection and to be able to our show gratitude to key workers while raising essential funds for Marie Curie.’

The Marie Curie Nurses, both in their hospices and out in the community have been continuing to support anyone affected by a terminal illness as well as supporting their friends and families.

They still urgently need support. It is crucial a charity like Marie Curie is there for the people who need them, those living with illnesses including cancer, dementia and motor neurone disease. They are also
now directly supporting patients with coronavirus and ensuring that all their Nurses and Healthcare Assistants have sufficient PPE to keep themselves and their patients safe.

There is an increased need for Marie Curie’s services, and it is vital they can continue to be there and working in the best way for the
people who need them most.

*New Covent Garden Market are donating 2,000 bunches of daffodils for key workers. For every £20 raised a bunch of daffodils will be delivered.
