Story
On Saturday 14th August, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti at 08:29 (local time), leaving over 2200 people dead and many more injured. At least 77,000 homes have been damaged and 53,000 destroyed. In addition, a tropical depression passed over the island, which caused further damage and made recovery efforts even more challenging. CARE teams have begun distributing core relief items including tents and water, but many of the areas impacted are logistically difficult to reach so the full extent of the damage is unknown yet.Emergency aid is absolutely necessary to save lives here and in dozens of other countries in crisis. Every penny will go to CARE's Emergency Response Fund- a dedicated fund, restricted solely for emergency response purposes within CARE International.
