Story

I’ve only ever done a 10k before so this is gonna be a killer for me! Please sponsor me because the next 7 weeks of training for this half marathon are gonna test me (seriously). This is double sports bra wearing territory!!!!

On a serious note, I’m putting myself through this at a time where juggle my day job and my volunteer role with TEDxLeamingtonSpa are ramping up to the max because there’s a local charity that deserves more ££££ and support - Helping Hands.

36 people become homeless every day and last year over 320,000 people were recorded as homeless in the UK )this doesn’t take into account all the unrecorded people)!

Leamington is no different and the problem is getting increasingly worse. I’ve decided to complete this challenge in aid of Helping Hands, a community project in Leamington Spa which exists ‘because everyone matters’ a sentiment I couldn’t agree more with.

HH builds relationships with vulnerable people and helps them to a better future, through a range of activities, providing both practical and emotional support.

HH offers a range of activities from the soup kitchen, advice and referrals, day time volunteering to build skills and self esteem to qualifications and partnerships with local businesses to help people back into work. Its House2Home project also provides furniture and other essentials for those who have been recently re-homes and families on low – incomes
