Ledbury fire station named 42, is a small rural station with a rescue appliance (422) and a water carrier (427) with currently 16 retained fire fighters to attend incidents 24hrs a day 365 days a year. Being a retained firefighter means that you have a full time job and are available either during your work hours and/or while you are home in Ledbury. When there is a shout we aim to "Turnout" in 5 minutes and could be out for a long time. Retained Firefighters are usually on call anything from 40 to 120+ hours per week. It is a very physical job both physically and emotionally and can be very mentally taxing depending on the incident.
The Fire fighters Charity have been around helping Firefighters for a long time. We have had several of our firefighters here at Station 42 (Ledbury) make use of the amazing facilities and practitioners helping them to get back "on the run"and continue to be able to help support their community and maintain their active lifestyle.
As a station we have done many events to raise money for the Charity such as car washes, Open Day tuck shop, completed The Mud Runner event at Eastnor estate negotiating the 10km off road race and it took us a muscle killing 3.5Hrs. Our latest feat was completing the HALO Furlong Fury which was a 5km obstacle course and was also very hard work in the blistering heat. Fingers crossed it is a cooler day in May when we attempt our 13mile run/jog/walk/crawl!
Any donation is welcome and very much appreciated and if you can just share the post it is even better.
