1000 Cranes for World Peace Day · 21 September 2019

Friends of the Earth is an international community that brings together more than two million people in 75 countries dedicated to the protection of the natural world and the wellbeing of everyone in it.

Story

This year is the 20th anniversary of the UN Resolution on the Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace so this World #PeaceDay we wanted to do some fundraising. The theme of World Peace Day this year is '#ClimateAction for Peace' as the climate crisis is at the heart of many issues, ranging from natural disasters to conflict over natural resources.

Climate Action for Peace aims to raise awareness of the importance of combating the climate crisis to protect and promote peace throughout the world.

With this theme in mind, we have decided to fundraise for Friends of the Earth. The organisation has spent over 40 years protecting the planet, raising awareness and lobbying for new laws to protect our water, wildlife, landscapes, climate and health.

But, to face the challenges ahead, there needs to be a more positive relationship between people and the environment. Together, with Friends of the Earth, our voice is louder, our actions more significant, our impact greater. Together, we are determined to change the world for good, for everyone.

The team at Smith Goodfellow are making at least 1,000 origami cranes from 100% donated or recycled paper for World Peace Day. We would love for you sponsor a crane for £1 to support Friends of the Earth!
