My family and I have had connections with Romania going back decades, and have been visiting relief and development projects in that country, at least anually, since 1997.  Throughout this period we have seen many changes, mostly for the better, and we have always been impressed, and, more often than not, humbled at the dedication, commitment and ingenuity of people like Dr Adi Popa and his wife Rita, who together with their family, and in partnership with Blythswood Care, have established a fantastic after-school programme for disadvantaged children in their home town of Jimbolia.   

Three summers ago, in record temperatures, a Work Team, mostly made up of people from the Parish of Braemar and Crathie, travelled out to Jimbolia to help out with the Talita Kum project.  For the most part we worked outside, painting and repairing the play equipment.  This year some of us will return, with a few more willing recruits, to carry out some refurbishment work on the buildings that will in due course house TKII - a programme designed for older children. 

As always, team members will be paying their own way, but the hope is that we can raise enough money to pay for some of the materials (e.g. wood & concrete) that will be used in this first phase of what will be a Suits on Bikes sponsored Project.
