The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

A big THANK YOU to everyone that has donated so far. The amount is way beyond our wildest dreams, indeed our original target of £333.33 has been exceeded by more than £1200!

Gary has now finished a write-up of our crazy weekend and it can be seen at cyclosport. While it is written from Gary's perspective, Geoff said the only other thing he can remember, that isn't covered, was the pain!

======================
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page. We are two keen cyclists in our mid to late forties who had a crazy idea way back in November 2008 that seems even crazier as May the 9th 2009 moves closer, so please read on and we hope you are able to sponsor us, no matter what the amount . . .

The Fred Whitton Challenge is probably the UK's hardest cycle event,  following a 112 mile mountainous loop around the Lake District it takes in all the famous passes in a single day -  Kirkstone Pass, Honister Pass, Newlands Pass, Whinlatter Pass, Cold Fell, Irton Pike, and finishes with the brutal Hardknott & Wrynose Passes. If you click here you can see the route profile, that gives you some idea of the severity.

While this is a challenge in itself we didn't think that on its own it was crazy enough, so to make things really difficult we will also be cycling the Bealach Beag Challenge the day before the Fred Whitton.

The Bealach Beag is only 43 miles (everything is relative!), but includes the
Bealach-na-Ba or Bealach nam Bo (Pass of the Cattle) which is the UK’s biggest road climb at 2053ft (626m) from sea level in just 6mls (10k). The route profile is here.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Macmillan Cancer Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now, and give our aching legs something to aim for!

Thank you.
