10 Years of Wobbly Williams

The West Highland Way and others · 4 August 2017
10 years ago this September I entered, unwillingly, into an uncivil partnership with a vile creature called Parkinson's Disease. It wasn't an arranged marriage, there was no history of any association with the Disease in my family, I just kinda fell in to it I suppose.
It was rocky from day one. The honeymoon was horrific, I was miserable, feeling sorry for myself and was giving up. He intimidated me, bullied me and filled my head with fears.
But I had a young family and I had to fight for them. And fight I did. With my friends we told the world how unpleasant this relationship was, particularly for young people, we even set up a website, WobblyWilliams.com, to poke fun at him and raise money to fund a divorce.
I have laughed at him when he has tried to make me miserable.
I have run marathons when he has tried to make me immobile.
I have climbed mountains in the sunshine when he has tried to send me in to the depths of darkness.
I appreciate this doesn't make me sound like a very nice person. But this is one of those situations where doing unto others as you would have them do unto you does not apply.
The divorce proceedings are progressing well, and we have found the method of divorcing me from Parkinson's has potential in divorcing others from Brain Tumours, MND, MS and Alzheimer's.
So this year the Team at Creation IP are raising funds for Funding Neuro to help put an end to these uncivil partnerships!!!
Our fundraising efforts are....
- Karen and I are going to walk the West Highland Way;
- Siobhan, Emma and Julie are joining us to walk the final day;
- Siobhan and Annette are running the Great Scottish Run half marathon;
- Annette is raffling a celebration cake of your choice; and
- the team are hosting a cake sale in the Innovation Centre.
We would appreciate your support.
