Cressida's Walk for St Ann's & Sneinton Food Bank · 10 September 2022

We have been running for over 20 years. We currently have staff dedicated to giving advice on debt, welfare benefits, employment, housing and homelessness. We also run the St. Anns and Sneinton Food Store, giving out food parcels and basic supplies to people most in need on a referral basis.

Story

Every year for the last 10 years (except during the pandemic) I have completed a personal challenge to raise money for different charities. I have done 7 static cycle rides and in 2016 I did the Robin Hood mini marathon with my friend Cheryl, which took 1 hour 20 minutes.

This year, with Cheryl and another friend Nigel, I will be walking a minimum of one-and-a-half-miles (I may do more!) around the lake in University Park. I am hoping to raise funds for the St. Ann's and Sneinton food bank.

I am very conscious that could have been one of the people needing the food bank. 30 years ago I had a brain haemorrhage. I am paralysed down my right side and I also have a speech and language disability called aphasia.

Aphasia is not a widely known disability, but there are more people with it than you might think. It has recently been in the news because of the actor Bruce Willis.

My first home was in Sneinton. I am keen to support the food bank, because it meets a growing need. I have also benefited from the Nottingham Welfare Rights Service, which works closely with the individuals who rely on the food bank.

I will be doing the walk at 10.30am on Saturday 10th September, four days after the 30th anniversary of my haemorrhage.

Please sponsor me if you can. You would also be welcome to join me at Lakeside NG7 2RD to cheer me along!

Thank you in anticipation of your support.
