On the 14 June 2014, old and young will come together to tackle the Guild Wheel; a 21 mile cycleway that circles around the city of Preston. We are raising money for Rosemere Cancer Foundation, our local cancer charity, and also to commemorate the life of Chris Rand.
Chris was a young husband and father, and a good friend who touched hundreds of lives. In summer 2013 Chris was diagnosed with advanced kidney cancer, and just 6 months later he passed away.
Chris was such an inspirational person, always on the go and getting the most out of life. Following in his footsteps, and with this in mind, we decided to arrange a sporting activity to raise money for Rosemere; a service which Chris and his family valued greatly during his illness.
So, joining together to become The Chris Rand Fan Club (CRFC), most participants are going to cycle the Guild Wheel! For those whom the full 21 mile circuit is too much, such as toddlers, individual targets are being set! The day will have a real family-feel to it, with designated pit stops around the circuit to help the children achieve their goals, and commemorative certificates for all participants. There will also be a raffle in the afternoon with great prizes, and of course the proceeds will go to Rosemere Cancer Foundation.
As CRFC, we are aiming to raise as much money for Rosemere as we collectively can and make a real difference, whilst having a great, active day, remembering Chris.
