We provide life enhancing services to enable people to live later life well

Story

Hi, my name is Crispian and I’m a chaplain here at MHA. Having seen the marathon effort that our chaplaincy team do every day to help people live later life well, I’m taking on my own challenge.

I’m pounding the pavements to get ready for the Great North Run on 8th September – I would really appreciate your support, will you help me?

Along with approximately 140 other Chaplains here at MHA, I help to deliver spiritual and pastoral care to MHA residents each and every year. It’s amazing to be able to offer one-to-one support, comfort and a listening ear to our residents, families and colleagues – irrespective of their faith or beliefs.

You can help – even from the comfort of your own sofa.

As a kind MHA supporter you can play your part too. Our chaplaincy service is only made possible thanks to the generous support of people like you. That’s why I thought you might like to hear about my own challenge and how you can help.

Every one of our chaplains go the extra mile here at MHA, supporting over 12,500 people each and every year and I’m proud to be part of this wonderful team. The good news is that you don’t have to do anything silly like me and run a half marathon to help! Instead you can help us from the comfort of your own home, by sending a donation to show your support. Together we can help more people live later life well.

I hope you will show your support for the MHA chaplaincy team and the thousands of MHA residents and their families we support.

If you could sponsor me £1 or 50p a mile, or whatever you can afford, you will be making a real difference and a massive impact to the lives of those in later life.

In our MHA care homes and retirement communities, our chaplains get to know each person: their story, family, life experiences and interests. We understand that everyone has spiritual needs, regardless of their faith – we help others to find meaning and purpose in life.

Our residents might just want to sit and hold a hand for comfort, chat or share their stories or just sit and listen to music quietly. Our chaplains are there for them, in both their happy moments and sad times.

I’m so proud to be taking on The Great North Run for MHA on 8th September 2019 and I hope you will help me get over the finish line! Thank you so much in advance if you decide to support my efforts, it will mean a great deal to me, the MHA chaplaincy team and the residents we collectively care for.

A bit about me

I understand how important it is to keep active and also, like most of us, recognise the fragility of life. My mum loved running and as she approached the end of her life this was one of the first things she had to stop doing. I want to keep running for as long as possible and for the people who are no longer able to run themselves.

Every day, I see residents and their families that need us and helping them is my passion. Seeing the difference we make is so rewarding and this is what prompted me to try and raise some extra money to support our life-enhancing chaplaincy
service.

My training is going well, helped by my furry, four legged training buddy Tilly, our 9 month old Labrador – she is always willing to drag me the last couple of miles!
