Croeso i Llanidloes was formed in September 2021 to support and resettle a vulnerable refugee family into Llanidloes, Powys. We have a core team of 10 volunteers with wider support within the community.
The refugee crisis is the worst it’s been since WW2 with large scale camps unable to cope with supporting the very basic needs of most refugees. Our aim is to support a family to resettle in the UK as part of the UK government Community Sponsorship Scheme. Through this scheme we will be actively increasing the number of refugees who can find safety in the UK.
Croeso i Llanidloes is required, through the scheme, to take on the whole process of the family’s resettlement to the UK and support them for up to two years, helping them to build a new and sustainable life. The support covers all aspects of everyday life including housing, employment, language skills, education, healthcare and much more.
We have partnered with Citizens UK, a registered charity, who help organise communities to act together for power, social justice and the common good. They have a lot of experience guiding community groups through the resettlement process.
We are looking to fundraise in excess of £11,000 to successfully resettle a family and continue supporting them. Any donation will be gratefully received to help the cause.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with all aspects of the scheme so please do get in touch if you'd like to help in this way also.
