3 Idiots Cycle N-S Wales in 24 hours · 4 July 2015

From small beginnings in the year 2000 FOMO now looks after thousands of children through a network of 14 centres covering over 95 villages. FOMO Provides Health Care, Formal and Informal Education, Food Security and Daily Activities. Everything raised will go to Malawi to Help the children.

Story

On Saturday 4th July, Chris Joyce, Nick Arthur and Sarah Black will set off from Colwyn Bay (North Wales) with the aim of getting to Barry Island (South Wales) in 24 hours, a distance of 200 miles.

The Purpose: We are doing this to raise money for Friends of Mulanje Orphans (FOMO). The charity supports nearly 5,000 orphaned children in the Mulanje district of Malawi, providing them with essential support such as food and healthcare, as well as supporting children through education and providing them with essentials such as clothes and mosquito nets. We are hoping to raise £700 between us.

We are leaving it up to the charity to decide what to do with the money we raise, as they have a much clearer idea of what is needed than we do. It could be spent on emergency aid for the recent devastating floods, or could be invested into longer-term projects; rest assured, any money you donate will be used where it is needed most.

The Team: We have been housemates for the last year at university. Chris dreamt up this challenge in the first place, and Nick and is the idiot that agreed to do it. We've just cycled across Spain together. Sarah is Chris's big (but little) sister who has decided to join us the day before.

The Route:

  1. Colwyn Bay
  2. Dolgellau (50 miles)
  3. Builth Wells (115 miles)
  4. Merthyr Tydfil (155 miles)
  5. Barry Island (199 miles)
(We might have to ride up and down the road to get the extra mile)
