Welcome to my crazy adventure!
Hi everyone 😊 For those who don’t know me I’m Crystal and I’m the Cattery and Small Animal Unit Supervisor for Wadars. I’ve devoted my entire career to the care and wellbeing of numerous animals, and until earlier in the year I I worked predominantly with exotic species. The last year or so has been incredibly challenging for me, I’ve opened my eyes to new experiences, new challenges and a job which has taken hold of my heart. I stepped away from what I knew and completely changed direction. It’s great to feel passion again and it’s about time I get back to what I do best; raising funds and awareness!
Throughout my life I’ve given up much of my free time fundraising for numerous animal charities; having raised thousands in various ways! This time round and for the first time I’m raising money for the charity I work for. I’ve grown up with Wadars in my life, supported them since childhood and it was only recently I found my Wadars fundraising certificate from almost 20 years ago!
Wadars is an animal rescue charity setup in 1969, located in Worthing and covering a 10 mile radius. We specialise in providing the best care and highest welfare standards in animal rescue and companion rehoming. Wadars is incredibly well known, incredibly well loved and I would even go to say there are very few people who haven’t heard of us in the community. My team are nothing short of amazing and we are largely made up by a fantastic number of devoted volunteers. As of the beginning of December we have rescued 1797 wild animals, and rehomed 83 cats in 2021!

On February 27th 2022 I will be running the Brighton half marathon, which composes of a 12-week training plan starting on December 6th. The money I raise will directly fund the camera setup for our cattery, which sadly doesn’t come cheap. We customise our care plans for cats solely based on their behaviour, but cats behave very differently when we are not there… pesky little night owls! Knowing what our kitty’s are up to can allow us to make more focused and bespoke decisions. Broken down this means we can ensure cats are placed in the best homes, receive the correct type of interactions and it even helps with the veterinary care we provide. It is crucial we continue to evolve and develop, and we are desperate to take this next step.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and journey. From the bottom of my heart, no matter how big or small your donation is it really does help. I can’t wait to cross that finish line knowing I’m making a difference to the lives of all the amazing cats who paw their way into my care ❤️😻🏃♀️🤞🏻
