Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.
As you may know, we at Kiltearn like to undertake a challenge on an annual basis and in doing so, support and raise awareness for our chosen charity.
We have gradually ramped up our challenges over the years, starting with a mere 26 mile walk in the Pentland Hills on the outskirts of Edinburgh in 2014 and 2015, followed by a 54 mile walk as part of the Caledonian Challenge in 2016 which left us battered, bruised and blistered, and most recently with a challenge that took us to 3 countries in 2017, with the 24hr 3 peaks challenge. How do we top that? Simple, we take on the Cuillin Ridge in Skye, which the British Mountaineering council calls the “UK’s finest mountaineering expedition”.
This year, alongside the brave volunteers from Kiltearn, we will have a number of external partners to make this a larger and hopefully, more beneficial event for Bethany Trust.
Why are we doing this?
Various individuals from Kiltearn, have, throughout the course of the last year, participated in care van lunches and have found it an incredibly rewarding and humbling experience. The care van travels out on its two routes through Edinburgh an amazing 571 times a year, providing over 27,000 meals annually to the homeless and those in need. The current vehicle is nearly ten years old and is in need of constant maintenance. Bethany Trust has looked into the affordability of buying a new van, but they are at least three years away from being able to do so. Kiltearn would love to help Bethany Trust to
raise sufficient funds to be able to acquire a new care van which will allow them to bring their catering environment into the 21st century and give the people they support the best possible service. The by-product of this, would be that the current care van be re-purposed and allow them to expand into Glasgow and help even more individuals who are in need of help.
Thank you very much for visiting our page and donating. It means the world to Bethany Trust.
Thanks,
Kiltearn
