Story
We've only recently become aware of this amazing charity, local to us, Oscar's Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity.
The death or life threatening illness of a child is something which moves even the hardest of hearts but when you have a young healthy family of your own it brings home to you how fragile life can be. So you give them that extra hug, tell them you love them, try not to wrap them up in cotton wool too much and live your life the best you can, trying to make the most of each precious moment together.
Not all families are as fortunate as ours. Oscars was started by Marie, a young mother who in 2014 lost first her 9 year old son Oscar to this terrible disease, she has since lost her husband Ian and Oscar's 5 year brother, Milo to the same disease. It doesn't bear thinking about, does it?
But we must think about it and we can do so more than "just" thinking about it. Together we can and we must make a real difference to all families affected by this awful disease.
Treatments used to fight a brain tumour in a child have devastating effects on a developing brain and body whilst the recovery rate is very low. This needs to change. The only way to bring about this change is to fund vital research into these cancers to establish better, kinder and more effective treatments.
The charity aims to fund critical research into paediatric brain tumours in the hope that one day a cure will be found, along with less invasive and debilitating treatments. OSCARS works closely with other charities.
If you can, no matter how little you can give we would very much appreciate your help in raising these vital funds critical to making things so much better for families like Marie's.
