The more money that is raised today, the quicker the research is done and results felt - SIMPLE. All of us will no doubt have been touched by Breast Cancer at some time in our lives; we don't have to be the victim to feel its impact. About Our Charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer More than 1,000 women die every month from breast cancer in the UK. Breakthrough Breast Cancer is committed to fighting this devastating disease through research and awareness, and has established the UK's first dedicated breast cancer research centre, in partnership with the Institute of Cancer Research. What made us decide to enter the Moonwalk 2005 We're not quite sure whose idea it was: while a group of us were out celebrating Janet's birthday in a local restaurant, the idea to work together for a cause developed. Maureen swung into action and galvanised our interest - there was no stopping her - she got us hooked! And the drive became three fold: one to get fit; secondly to raise money and thirdly to raise awareness. Some of us have lost close friends or relatives to Breast Cancer and other forms of the disease; others realise the fragility of life and enthusiastically embrace the opportunity to help as many people as possible.Over 20 of us entered and 16 secured a place. Those who did not get in, have helped us by providing lunch and drinks and supporting us in many ways.
