Chelsea and Westminster Hospital offers a top quality A&E - the best performing in the country for waiting times and, uniquely, has 24/7 consultant cover for paediatric A&E. However, the service is also under real pressure - it was designed to accommodate 60,000 patients but currently sees over 112,000 patients every year.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is investing in a £10 million capital redevelopment of A&E to offer a space that is fit for 140,000 patients.

We at Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity will use our art and design, and the know-how of our clinicians, to turn this redevelopment into the leading A&E centre in England. Bringing together leading artists, we will introduce innovations including adaptable lighting, bespoke sound programmes, flexible distractions for ceilings and walls, and thoughtful partitions and zoning to respect privacy and ages. We will also support clinical innovations such as apps, devices and new services to improve patient experience.
